Crime & Safety

Next Week is Severe Weather Awareness Week

Lakeville's Fire Department responded to 15 calls for service the week of March 27 through April 3.

Severe Weather Awareness Week is April 11-15 and the first tornado siren activation and drill of the Spring will occur on Thursday, April 14 at 1:45 and 6:55 p.m.

Tornadoes develop quickly; go to the basement and get under a table, work bench, or some other sturdy furniture to protect yourself from falling debris. A stairwell is also a good place to hide during a tornado.

If you cannot get to a basement, go to a small, interior room on the lowest floor.  Closets, bathrooms and interior halls afford the best protection in most cases. Get under something sturdy or cover yourself with blankets, and stay away from windows.
