Bacon and Eggs Turns into Cocaine Bust by Lakeville's Police Chief, County Sheriff
Lakeville Police Chief Thomas Vonhof and Dakota County Sheriff Mark Bellows catch up over bacon and eggs then bust the busboy for cocaine possession.
It was just another weekly Saturday-morning breakfast outing at Perkins for two long-time friends and Lakeville law enforcement leaders, until they were surprised by a tip from a restaurant server.
Lakeville Police Chief Thomas Vonhof and Dakota County Sheriff Dave Bellows were eating their meal and minding their own business when an employee came up to them and asked—"hypothetically"—what a restaurant could do if they found an employee showing drugs to another employee.
But the situation turned from hypothetical to real in a matter of minutes when another employee rushed over to the table exclaiming that they just saw it happen.

“They came up to us because they knew we were officers,” Vonhof said. “It’s great that people aren’t afraid to give us information.”
After hearing the somewhate shocking tip, the two cops abandoned their bacon and eggs and acted quickly, just like when they used to patrol together as rookies in the Lakeville Police Department 30 years ago.

“The situation reminded me of when we used to work together out on the street,” Vonhof said.
They immediately got into contact with the restaurant’s manager and called in some backup. They also brought in an interpreter to question the suspect, and busboy Miguel Juarez Garcia, 44, of Lakeville, was soon under arrest after officers found a small amount of cocaine hidden in his wallet.
Garcia was then charged Tuesday with felony cocaine possession.
