Thank you for your note. With all of the time it takes away from what I should be/need to be doing during the day sometimes, it's nice to know it's worthwhile.
I am a fiscal conservative and value smart, efficient government, with a large side of cooperation between the public and private sector. But in today's political climate, holding certain core values and accepting the need for, and role of, good government and taxes in our communities almost positions one as a far left liberal anymore. Normally, I care not about the labels. But at this critical juncture, we seem to be at an important crossroads in the future of Lakeville, and I am restless about the popular perception that the November elections somehow served as a broad mandate for sweeping changes, some of which are radical by nature and may not be in our future best interests. So I write. And I and many of us non-political types out here are counting on you and your fellow Council members to resist the urge to "ride the wave" because it is easy and politically popular, and instead take good care to focus on all sides of an issue. There's a lot at stake here.
From what I have seen so far, I have nothing but faith that you will do just that, and make a fine City Council member. Keep up the good work, and thanks again for taking the time to reach out.
