This is the second season in three years North has earned a berth to the State Boys High School Hockey Tournament.
UPDATED (8:57 p.m.) The Lakeville North boys hockey team is headed back to State. North's boys hockey team beat Lakeville South 6-3 on Thursday night in the Section 1AA finals to earn its second section title in three years. It's too soon to say who the Panthers will meet in the quarterfinals of the State Boys High School Hockey Tournament next Thursday, March 7 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Lakeville North beat Rosemount 28-7 Thursday night to advance to the State Class 6A championship.
Update: Lakeville North beats Rosemount Irish 28-7 and the Panthers advance to the Class 6A title game next Friday. Patch will have much more shortly. The Lakeville North broadcast students have teamed up with Team Burnsville Community Television to live stream the game.
Saturday's Section 1AAAAA semi-final rematch between cross-town rivals Lakeville North and Lakeville South will prove to be a night to remember. Record crowds are likely to converge on the Lakeville North stadium for the 7 p.m. game to see which team will advance to the Section 1AAAAA championship. And just like last time the two schools met, if fans can't make it to the game, they'll have the opportunity to watch it via live stream.
