Dumb Criminal: Man Flees Police After Giving Full Name and Birth Date

"The hapless driver was sent to Dakota County Jail pending multiple traffic and criminal charges including fleeing from an officer and possession of narcotics."

Officer Brad Wubben stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation late one night this past week. The vehicle pulled over and the driver of the vehicle gave Officer Wubben his full name and date of birth. Officer Wubben returned to his squad and began running computer checks on the driver when he noticed the driver had stepped out of his vehicle. Officer Wubben told the driver to get back in his vehicle and the driver began walking, and then running away from Officer Wubben. Unfortunately for the fleeing driver, Officer Jessica Swaner was just arriving in the area. Officer Swaner quickly located and arrested the subject, who had only made it about a block away from the traffic stop. Officers later found a baggie of suspected narcotics near …

He Can Run, But DUI Driver's Scent Can't Hide From Lakeville K-9

DUI driver who was pulled over for running a stop sign fled on foot as officers pulled him over. Shortly after fleeing, Lakeville's K-9, Zeus, picked up his scent and found him hiding on a garage roof.

Most times when an officer makes a traffic stop, the violator will pull over to the side of the road and wait for the officer to approach their car, but officers stopping vehicles never assume that is what will happen.  Officer Shawn Fitzhenry and Officer Brad Wubben initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for going through a stop sign without stopping. The vehicle pulled over to the side of the road and the driver jumped out of the car and fled down the roadway on foot. Officer Fitzhenry chased the suspect and called for assistance. Officer Jason Jensen and his K-9 partner, Zeus, responded to the scene along with other officers to assist.  Officer Fitzhenry continued to chase the fleeing suspect, but lost sight of him in a residential …

Lakeville Driver Flees Crash on Foot, Chased Down by Other Driver

Drunk driver rear-ended a truck then fled scene on foot. Other driver got out and chased down the suspect, according to police.

Like us on Facebook | Follow us on Twitter | Sign up for our newsletter People often think that drunk driving is something that happens late at night after the bars close, but that is not always the case. Police officers know that people drink and drive at all times of the day and night and that drunk drivers often cause serious crashes with other vehicles in both the day and night, as happened one day last week in this case.  Officer Doyle Cockrell was working the dayshift when he responded to a “hit and run” crash on Dodd Boulevard near the intersection of Franchise Way. When Officer Cockrell arrived on the scene, he found that a car had rear ended a large commercial water truck. The driver of the car, who had suffered superficial …

Dumb Criminal: Driver Tells Cops 'Catch Me if You Can,' Flees

Man taunts cops before fleeing traffic stop. Lakeville Police use driver's license to arrest the man later at his home.

Officer Brad Wubben was on patrol one night this week when he ran a driver’s license check on the registered owner of a vehicle and found that the driver had no valid driver’s license. Officer Wubben stopped the vehicle and the driver gave Officer Wubben his driver’s license. Officer Wubben returned to his squad car and confirmed on the squad computer that the driver’s license was cancelled. Officer Wubben walked back up to the car and asked the driver to step out of his car as his driver’s license was not valid. The driver said, “catch me if you can” and sped away from the traffic stop. Officer Wubben followed a short distance and discontinued the pursuit as he still had the driver’s license of the fleeing driver. Officer Wubben, in …
