Walmart Coming to Lakeville

Construction expected to begin later this year on the 150,000 square foot retail center.

After missing out on recent retail opportunities such as Costco and Trader Joe’s, Lakeville has landed national retail chain Walmart. Plans call for a 150,000 square foot building located on a 16-acre site west of Interstate 35 and north of County Road 70. The announcement was confirmed by Lakeville’s Director of Community and Economic Development, Dave Olson. “They’ve got a wetland evaluation process they’re going through right now as part of the process,” said Olson. “Plans are currently to begin construction later this year.” Olson said he was not aware of a projected date the new store would be operational. He did say that plans called for a grocery store to be included in the retail building. Walmart officials could not be immediately…

Sorry to say Lakeville, but your own residents have committed some pretty down and dirty crimes that have nothing to do with wal-mart. In fact, well known and well off residents. It's just the wealthy can hide the crimes that they commit either by their name or money. As the economy worsens, so will crime. "Economy", not a specific enterprise.   more ›
