Editor's note: The following is a press release from the Lakeville Area Public School District. The Lakeville North Mock Trial team finished third at the 2013 State Tournament. The field of mock trial teams began year with over 150 teams representing 12 regions. Teams completed an invitational season and then went through five weeks of region competition. Lakeville North won the region and advanced to state. The region final trial was against the Breck School who are the three time defending state champions. At the state tournament Lakeville North beat Bemidji and Wayzata. There was a split decision with Nova Classical Academy who went on to win.

Lakeville North's boys basketball team lost to Park Center 74-72 in the quarterfinals of the State Boys High School Basketball Tournament.
A year after losing at the buzzer in the Class 4A Championship game, Lakeville North's boys basketball team lost at the buzzer again at state. This time the Panthers were felled by the Park Center Pirates—74-72—in a thrilling quarterfinal game at this year's State Boys High School Basketball Tournament. The Panthers were down 16 points at halftime and at one time trailed by 19, but made a furious charge to tie the game at the end of regulation of the game at Target Center. Overtime was a back and forth affair, that ended with Park Center's Isaac Matthews tipped in Quinton Hooker's miss in the final seconds of overtime. North's JP Macura had 26 points. Park Center's Hooker had a game-high 29 points.

This is the second season in three years North has earned a berth to the State Boys High School Hockey Tournament.
UPDATED (8:57 p.m.) The Lakeville North boys hockey team is headed back to State. North's boys hockey team beat Lakeville South 6-3 on Thursday night in the Section 1AA finals to earn its second section title in three years. It's too soon to say who the Panthers will meet in the quarterfinals of the State Boys High School Hockey Tournament next Thursday, March 7 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Lakeville North's defense dominates as the Panthers advance to Class 6A title game with 28-7 win over Rosemount.
Rosemount served notice early this wasn’t going to be like last time the two South Suburban Conference rivals played. The underdog Irish, who dropped a 35-0 decision to Lakeville North to end the regular season, stunned the favored Panthers with a 68-yard, 12-play scoring drive to open the game and to grab a 7-0 lead. But after spotting that early touchdown, the Panthers dominated the contest defensively and rolled to a 28-7 triumph Thursday in the Class 6A state football semifinals in the Metrodome. No. 1 Lakeville North beat defending champion Eden Prairie on Saturday in the State Class 3A volleyball title game.
Update: The Lakeville North girls volleyball team is the 2012 State Class 3A volleyball champions. The Panthers beat Eden Prairie 3-1 in the title game. Lakeville North beat Shakopee 3-0 to advance to the Class 3A title game in state volleyball.
UPDATE: Lakeville North's volleyball team showed why it’s the top-rated team in the state Friday morning, dominating Shakopee 3-0 in the state Class 3A volleyball tournament semifinals. The match was held at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul and Lakeville won the first game 25-11 and the second 25-20 before closing out the match with a convincing 25-18 victory in the third. Lakeville, now 31-1, will play either Blaine or Eden Prairie in the championship game on Saturday. Last year, North lost to Eden Prairie in the finals. SHakopee, 19-13, will play in the third-place game on Saturday against either Eden Prairie or Blaine. Lakeville North exacted some revenge in the state quarterfinals, beating Prior Lake 23-3.
UPDATE Lakeville North waited until the fourth quarter to dominate, but in the end, the Panthers advanced to the State Semifinals in Class 6A after beating Prior Lake 23-3 Thursday night. The Panthers, seeded No. 5, were down 3-0 early, but the defense took over after that, dominating No. 4 Prior Lake on its way to the upset win. After defeating Eagan 48-21, North will host Eastview next week in the section semi-finals.
Lakeville North's football team began their run to state by thrashing Eagan in the first round of section play on Friday night. The No. 2 seed Panthers beat No. 7 Eagan 48-21, and will next host No. 3 Eastview in the Section 3AAAAAA semifinals next week. Game time is still to be determined. Eastview beat Burnsville 42-14. Lakeville North's football team wrapped up their dominant 2012 season on Wednesday with a dominating win over Rosemount. The Panthers beat the Irish 35-0 at home on Wednesday in their regular season finale. The Panthers finished the season at 7-1. Their only loss came to conference champion Prior Lake.
