Jermaine Savory, 32, was arrested on Nov. 6 after allegedly stealing a car, robbing a gas station and leading police on a car chase that reached speeds of 100 miles-per-hour.
Attorneys for the prosecution and defense of Jermaine Savory agreed today that the Minneapolis man who led police on a high-speed car chase last November would benefit more from civil commitment than a criminal case. "Mr. Savory is not competent to assist me in his defense," public defender Warren Kochis told Dakota County District Court Judge Thomas Pugh. "I'd like to insist the court commence with civil commitment proceedings." Dakota County prosecutor Scott Hersey agreed with Kochis' motion and informed Judge Pugh that he could not proceed with the case against Savory without the completion of a psychological evaluation. Savory is charged with allegedly stealing a vehicle in Lakeville on Nov. 6 and using it to rob at gunpoint the …

A Lakeville man has been charged with three felonies, including burglary and theft of a firearm, after police say he stole a number of guns and power tools from a Eureka Township home on Dec. 11. Jordan Veryl Greene, 23, declined to give a statement regarding the case, but his girlfriend Nina Marie Davis, 18, spoke to Lakeville Police, and claimed the two were present when a third person, Terrance Matthew Brown, 24, of Minneapolis, stole the guns from the barn. The woman's statement doesn't mesh with the criminal complaint, which says nearly $7,000 in firearms, power tools, and even a crossbow, were taken from the shed on the night of Dec. 11. According to the report filed the morning the burglary was discovered, officers "located distinct…
