Obituary: After 8 Years, Lakeville Woman Succumbs to Stage IV Cancer

Andrea Wallerick, 53, lasted out her illness for years, in spite of the fact that she eschewed medical treatment on religious grounds.

Andrea Jean Wallerick, of Lakeville, died on Feb. 18, 2013 at the age of 53. According to her loved ones, she passed peacefully with "a sweet smile on her beautiful face." Wallerick, a stay-at-home mom to twins, had a long bout with cancer in the years leading up to her death. "Andrea bravely battled stage IV cancer for 8 years without medical treatment, relying on her faith in God and nutrition," Her family wrote. Wallerick will be remembered for her interest in fashion, cooking, travel, and simple living, as well as her great faith in Christ. She is preceded in death by her father, Eugene Hervig, and her mother Doris (Petersen) Hervig. Andrea, my dear wife, did not "eschew medical treatment on religious grounds". The medical field told her there was nothing they could do for her, because of the advanced stage of her disease. Fortunately, she had a rock solid faith in Christ, and He carried her through the final eight years of her life.   more ›

Former Lakeville Principal, Local GOP Heavyweight Dies at 100

Walter Kloepping Klaus, 100, was State House Representative for Dakota County from the late 1950s to the mid-1970s.

Former Christian Heritage Academy Principal Walter Kloepping Klaus died Nov. 16, 2012 at the age of 100. He was born April 19, 1912, the third and youngest child of George H. and Wilhelmina Kloepping Klaus at his grandfather's home in Empire Township, just a few days after the sinking of the Titanic. Klaus was reared in rural school system before attending Farmington High School and Hamline University. He studied teachingbut initally stayed on the family farm in Vermillion Township, called "Gentlehill." During World War II he stayed on the homefront due to an agricultural deferment, though he chaired the county USO. During the '40s he became active in the Republican Party. In 1948 was chosen as the county chairman,a post he held six times …

Kenneth H. Dwire, 66, of Lakeville, passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 12. He is preceded in death by his father, Harold Dwire. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary (Ott) Dwire; children, Sandy and Todd (Mindy) Dwire; mother, Orda Mae “Lou” Dwire; siblings, Debbie, Phil (Karna) and Tim (Tonya) Dwire; grandchildren, Kirsten, Shane, Cole, Karlie, Garrett and Isabelle; also by nieces, nephews and friends.   A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville. Visitation is set for 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, at White Funeral Home in Lakeville and one hour prior to service. A private interment will be held.
