New Lakeville McDonald's Offering Meals for a Year to First 100 Patrons

Take our poll: what do you think of Lakeville's newest McDonald's restaurant giving its first 100 customers a free value meal every day for a year.

Gastric gluttony, or good business? Evidently, that just depends on how you look at it. Lakeville's newest McDonald's location is set to open Friday morning at 4 a.m., and when it does, the restaurant will give the first 100 customers a free value meal every day for a year. When Lakeville Patch first reported in April that Lakeville's City Council approved plans to demolish the old Dino's Gyros building sitting at 179th Street West and Cedar Avenue—in the Cub Foods anchored Lakeville Crossing mall—so McDonald's can construct a new restaurant in its place, the reaction among readers was harsh. Lakeville to Get Third McDonald's; No Word on Fate of Dino's

Lakeville's City Council on Monday approved a plan to raze the building Dino's Gyros calls home, and build a McDonald's restaurant in its place.

Lakeville will be getting its third McDonald's restaurant, but it may be losing a popular gyro restaurant in the process. On Monday night, Lakeville's City Council approved plans to demolish the building sitting at 179th Street West and Cedar Avenue—in the Cub Foods anchored Lakeville Crossing mall—that Dino's Gyros calls home, so McDonald's can construct a new restaurant in its place. There's no word yet as to where Dino's would relocate, if at all. According to city officials, the building is about 10 years old, and McDonald's would actually keep the foundational footprint of the existing structure. City documents say McDonald's identified the area as a location for a restaurant as far back as 2003, but didn't build.
