At 8 p.m. tonight, Vice President Joe Biden and Republican nominee Rep. Paul Ryan will square off in the only vice presidential debate of the season. Moderator Martha Raddatz (ABC News Chief Foreign Correspondent) will guide the debate as it covers both foreign and domestic topics. The night will be divided into nine time segments of approximately 10 minutes each. The moderator will ask an opening question, after which each candidate will have two minutes to respond. The moderator will use the balance of the time in the segment for a discussion of the question. At 8 p.m. Oct. 3, President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney will square off at the University of Denver for the first presidential debate of the season. Domestic policy is the topic of the evening. Moderator Jim Lehrer, executive director of PBS News Hour, will oversee six 15-minute segments—the first three segments focusing on the economy and the last three focusing on health care, the role of government and governing. Throughout the debate, Patch will be moderating a live blog where users can share their thoughts in real time, participate in polls and post photos from debate-watching parties. Patch hosts a live blog of the Class AAAA state boys high school basketball championship game at 8 p.m.
Lakeville Patch will be hosting a live blog of tonight's Class 4A state title game between Lakeville North's boys basketball team and Osseo. You can also listen to live audio of the game with our friends at the Minnesota Sports Broadcast Network via their Internet broadcast. The title game is the first ever championship game in boys basketball for the city of Lakeville. The Panthers (30-1) beat Eden Prairie (23-8) in a semifinal match-up on Thursday, and Osseo needed three overtimes to get past Hopkins the three-time defending state champions, and No. 1 team in the state. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. on Saturday at the Target Center. Osseo, which won a state title in 2001, didn't face the Panthers this season.

Lakeville Patch hosted a live blog of the Lakeville North girls basketball quarterfinal game versus Hopkins at the state tournament today. North lost, 51-29. Lakeville North, which won the state title just three seasons ago, and finished third last year, returns for its fourth overall and third consecutive tournament appearance. Junior Taylor Stewart, who has over 800 career points and 300 career assists, averages 13.1 points per game. Senior McKenzie Hoelmenn, averaging 6.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, will attend Northern Illinois next year. Lakeville South's boys hockey team takes on No. 1 Duluth East at 6 p.m. Thursday at the boys state hockey tournament at the Xcel Energy Center.
Lakeville Patch will be live blogging the the action for tomorrow's state quarterfinal showdown between the Lakeville South boys hockey team and No. 1 Duluth East. Patch coverage will begin at 5 p.m. with the puck slated to drop around 6:15 p.m. at the Xcel Energy Center on Thursday night.
