Karl Drotning Named Lakeville Chamber 2012 Business Person of the Year

Karl Drotning, president CEO of Lakeville's Crystal Lake Automotive, Inc., has been named 2012 Business Person of the Year by the Lakeville Area Chamber of Commerce. Drotning opened the mechanical and collision repair facility in 1986 and now occupies 25,000 square feet of space and employs 26 full time workers including several family members. PHOTOS: Lakeville's Landscape and Home Expo Draws a Crowd

The ninth annual expo drew thousands of visitors from around Dakota County.

The Lakeville Area Chamber of Commerce's ninth annual Landscape and Home/Consumer Showcase Expo attracted thousands of Lakeville and Dakota County residents to Lakeville North High School on Saturday. The event, which was free to the public, gave folks the opportunity to speak with more than 150 local businesses, most notably, special landscape and home vendors that offered deals, tips and advice for those with Spring Fever.

Lakeville Chamber Launches Redesigned Website

The Lakeville Area Chamber of Commerce has redesigned its website, rolling out the new look site today. Todd Bornhauser, the executive director of the chamber, said the new site has several new opportunities for local businesses, and provides a "powerful resource and a robust tool" that will enhance memberships. Oberto Named Lakeville Chamber's Business Person of the Year

Norman Oberto is owner of Lakeville-based Imperial Plastics, a manufacturer of engineered plastic components.

Norman Oberto has been selected as the 2011 Lakeville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Business Person of the Year. Oberto is owner of Lakeville-based Imperial Plastics, a manufacturer of engineered plastic components. According to a press release from the Lakeville Chamber of Commerce, the Business Person of the Year award is presented to a chamber member whose contributions improved the business climate and made the community a better place to live and work. Past winners meet annually to review and select the nominations made by the general chamber membership. Lakeville Area Chamber of Commerce events on tap for the coming week.

There are plenty of opportunities to participate in Lakeville Area Chamber of Commerce events in the coming week. The Chamber will host a Morning Brew networking event on Wednesday, Sept. 7 from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at the ATA Leadership Academy. No RSVP is needed. Just show up and enjoy coffee and conversation with fellow chamber members. The ATA Leadership Academy is located at 20818 Holyoke Ave. School is back in session and chamber members will recognize teachers on Friday, Sept. 9 with a Teacher Appreciation Breakfast held at Eastview Elementary. Lakeville Area Chamber Events for Upcoming Week

Food drive coming to a close. Still time to make your donations at area chamber businesses.

The Lakeville Chamber of Commerce has a number of events planned for the coming week. The chamber will host a Breakfast with the City Tuesday, Aug. 9 at Perkins Family Restaurant in Lakeville. That event is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Also on Aug. 9, an Ambassador Picnic will be held at Casperson Park. That event is scheduled from 3-5 p.m. The Farmer’s Market continues its run on Wednesdays and Saturdays downtown. Fresh produce and goods are available from a variety of local vendors each week. The market is staged in Market Plaza from Noon to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays and in the Arts Center parking lot from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The food drive to benefit local food shelves ends on Monday, Aug. 15. Residents still have time to make …

Lakeville Area Chamber Events for Upcoming Week

Breakfast with U.S. Rep. John Kline postponed due to Washington debt ceiling talks.

After the Lakeville Area Chamber of Commerce hosted Lakeville’s state legislators over breakfast last week to discuss issues surrounding the state shutdown, chamber members were to get a chance to hear the latest news on a national level from U.S. Representative John Kline during the South of the River Chambers of Commerce Breakfast Tuesday, July 19 at Brackett’s Crossing Country Club. That event has been postponed. An August date is being looked at for rescheduling but no details were currently available. The event was to be held from 7-9 a.m. but Kline will have to remain in Washington, D.C., due to the cancellation of the scheduled recess as legislators there grapple with a solution to the debt ceiling. Legislative Breakfast Highlights Lakeville Chamber's Week

Area legislators to provide budget impasse update. Month-long food drive for 360 Communities also kicks off.

The Lakeville Area Chamber of Commerce kicks off a busy week with a food drive benefitting 360 Communities. The month-long drive will run through August 12 and collection boxes will be placed at a number of area businesses. The Breakfast with the School event originally scheduled for Tuesday, July 12, at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant has been postponed due to scheduled superintendent candidate interviews. On Tuesday, July 12, the Chamber Ambassadors will have a Noon meeting in the Chamber conference room. A State Legislative Breakfast with Rep. Mary Liz Holberg, Rep. Pat Garofalo and Sen.
