Letter to the Editor: Jennifer Harmening for Lakeville School Board

Letter writer: If you vote for Jennifer Harmening, "I can guarantee you will not get another follower, but a true leader that will work for the better of the Lakeville School system."

To the editor, I am a business owner in the city of Lakeville, but more importantly a father of a child in the Lakeville School systems. I have followed very closely the past and current school boards and I truly believe it is time to have some new blood on the board. The current board is not broken but it needs an enthusiastic catalyst going forward. This is why I support voting for Jennifer Harmening on Nov. 6. I have known Jennifer for eight years and I have seen her in action involved in the school system. Jennifer is the type of person to not just go with the heard but to challenge and change for the better of the students in the Lakeville schools. Former Crystal Lake PTO President to Run for Lakeville School Board

Jennifer Hearon Harmening is a mother of two children in Lakeville schools, and served as Crystal Lake Elementary School's PTO president before the school was shuttered.

Jennifer Hearon Harmening, a former president of Crystal Lake Elementary School's PTO, and a mother of two children currently enrolled in Lakeville schools, has announced she will be filing to run for a seat on Lakeville's School Board in November. Three seats are up for election this year: those held by incumbents Bob Erickson, Kathy Lewis and Judy Keliher. Only Erickson has officially announced his intent to run again. In a statement, Harmening said she and her family experienced the impact of the changes in the Lakeville School District firsthand when Crystal Lake Elementary closed in 2011. I had the privilege of serving with Jennifer on the CLE PTO and I cannot think of a better person to have on the district board. She went above and beyond the call of duty, and continued on even after the doors were closed. I was not surprised to hear that she will be running for board. I will be eagerly waiting to mark my vote.   more ›
