Officer Greg Jensen has taken the lead on organizing the Lakeville Toys for Tots effort since we started our involvement. Greg has been responsible for setting up the collection boxes at various City buildings and collecting the donated toys and getting them delivered with our squads to KARE 11, so the Marines can distribute them to needy children. This year, collection boxes for Toys for Tots were set up in the lobby of our Police Station, Lakeville City Hall, the Central Maintenance Facility, and the Water Treatment Facility. Have a merry Christmas and a happy holidays, and please take a moment to remember and honor the victims of the Newtown, CT, tragedy with a beautiful rendition of Silent Night by the New York City Children's Chorus.
From all of us here at Lakeville Patch, we want to wish you a happy holidays and merry Christmas. In that spirit, I felt personally compelled to take a moment and remember the victims of the Dec. 14 Newtown, CT, tragedy who will not be with their families today. We can remember by simply taking two minutes and watching this beautiful rendition of "Silent Night" by the New York City Children's Chorus. The choir sang the song to open the Dec. 15 episode of "Saturday Night Live" to honor the victims of the shooting. It's simply beautiful. I still find it unimaginable that there are 26 new angels—including 20 tiny ones—looking down on all of us today as we celebrate the holiday with our loved ones. Merry Christmas to you and yours, -Derrick …

Donations were collected, and delivery was on Friday, Dec. 14, to some very grateful friends. Iverson said it is an attempt to get to know neighbors in Lakeville that are isolated by factors like economic and linguistic challenges, and to create community.
