Holy Heat Advisory: 100 Degree Forecast for Lakeville on Monday

The National Weather Service has issued another heat advisory for Monday.

Monday is setting up to be another scorcher in Lakeville. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory bewteen 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday for all of southern Minnesota with the forecast calling for temperatures in Lakeville to top out at 101 degrees with heat indices climbing to as high as 110 degrees. The NWS says southwest winds will push a hot air across the region on Monday, spurring near-record temperatures and potentially dangerous weather conditions.  The weather services advises people living in the area of the advisory to take extra precautions on Monday if working or spending time outside. Summer Sizzler: Heat Advisory Issued; 90s Likely All Week in Lakeville

The heat advisory is in effect from noon to 10 p.m. Monday.

It wouldn't be Pan-O-Prog week in Lakeville if it wasn't hot. Really hot. Like, close to 100-degrees-hot. So hot, the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Lakeville, and all of south-central Minnesota. Today's NWS forecast for Lakeville's Airlake Airport: 94 degrees with a heat index of 101. The summer-heat will persist through Saturday with highs in the 90s. From the NWS: * TEMPERATURE...HIGHS TODAY WILL VARY FROM 92 TO 97...AND DEW POINTS WILL BE IN THE LOWER 70S. THIS WILL RESULT IN HEAT INDEX VALUES FROM 100 TO 108 ACROSS MUCH OF CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN MINNESOTA. * FORECAST...DEPENDING ON HOW WIDESPREAD THE STORMS ARE TONIGHT... Wind Advisory and Hazardous Outlook Posted for Dakota County

Winds are 25-30 mph with gusts up to 45-50 mph until 7 p.m.

The National Weather Service has posted a Wind Advisory through 7 p.m. tonight for Lakeville, Dakota County and much of the surrounding area. Winds are currently blowing from 25-30 mph with gusts up around 40 mph. Use caution while driving as the winds could make driving difficult. High profile vehicles may especially have trouble driving on east/west roads. Be alert for small items blowing around, the Weather Service said. A wind advisory means winds of 35 mph are expected. The high on Friday is 87 degrees. Strong south winds are forecast again for Friday afternoon across south central Minnesota and thunderstorm chances will increase across the area Saturday through Sunday as a cold front moves in. March 18: Ice is Out on Lake Marion

The ice is officially out on Lake Marion—nearly a month early.

Last year, ice-out on Lake Marion occurred on April 11, which was a day later than normal according to the National Weather Service. This year? Thanks to a spring-fever inducing heat-wave with temperatures nearing 80 the past few days ice out officially occured on Sunday, March 18, nearly a month early. Lakeville Patch has been snapping photos form the boat launch at Casperson Park the past few days until the ice was gone.

Spring Fever Lake Marion Ice-Out Watch: March 16

Thanks to temperatures near 70 that are expected to persist for a week or more, Lake Marion's cover of ice will melt in the next few days—and that's nearly a month early.

Last year, ice-out on Lake Marion occurred on April 11, which was a day later than normal according to the National Weather Service. This year? Thanks to a spring-fever inducing heat-wave with temperatures already soaring near 70, and expected to stay there for the next week or so, ice-out on Lakeville's Lake Marion is expected in the next couple days. Lakeville Patch will be snapping photos form the boat launch at Casperson Park until the ice is gone. The east side of the lake, nearest Antlers Park, has less ice then the west side. Compared to yesterday, the open water has advanced toward the beach at Casperson significantly. At this rate, the ice will be gone by Sunday.

Hot, Humid Weather Setting Records in Twin Cities, Posing Danger

The hot and humid conditions have led to an Excessive Heat Warning for Lakeville and nearly all of Minnesota through Wednesday.

Thanks to freakishly hot and humid airmass resembling ones you'd encounter if visiting a rain forest, nearly the entire state is shrouded in an Excessive Heat Warning per the National Weather Service. But what you feel outside is more than hot and sticky, it's setting records and posing health risks. Last night, at 8:53 p.m., the dewpoint reached 81 degrees, according to the NWS—matching an all time record for the Twin Cities. No, it wasn't just a daily record, the 81 degree dewpoint—a figure which measures the amount of water or humidity in the air—matched an all time record felt just a hand-full of times in recorded history. It was so humid and warm, the heat index at 2 a.m. this morning was 102 degrees—hardly sleeping weather. And while…
