Lakeville South Football Beats Bloomington Kennedy 55-28

After a rough few weeks, the Cougars got back in the win column in decisive fashion.

Lakeville South's football team hasn't been living up to their own expectations, much less those who said in the pre-season the Cougars would compete for the conference title. The Cougars were 2-4 coming into their game against Bloomington Kennedy, and apparently the Eagles where just what Lakeville needed. They beat up on Kennedy to the tune of 55-28. Check out Minnesota Football Hub for a complete recap of the game.

The Lakeville South baseball team mustered up just two hits—albeit one was a Luke Sather home run—in a 5-1 loss at South Suburban Conference rival Eastview on a sunny Wednesday afternoon in Apple Valley. Sather gave the Cougars a brief 1-0 lead with his third-inning homer before the Lightning got to South starting pitcher Will Lundquist for their first run to tie the contest at 1-1 in the home half of the frame. Eastview took the lead for good at 3-1 in the fifth inning as the Cougars were finding it very difficult to get themselves on the basepaths. Lakeville South Falls at State in Emotional Fashion

A late-game comeback is not enough as Cougars lose to Eden Prairie, 79-75

The Lakeville South boys basketball team never game up on itself Wednesday—even during its most difficult moments. How could it? The Cougars had overcome too much. Having faced some of the state’s elite during the regular season, going toe-to-toe with squads like Hopkins and St. Paul Johnson, gave coach John Sheehan and his squad faith. So even as South’s second-half rally came up short in a 79-75 loss to Eden Prairie in the Class AAAA state quarterfinals at Target Center, Sheehan saw the will and grit his team displayed all season. “It’s just their mental toughness was so strong that they weren’t going to quit,” Sheehan said. “They started believing and believing and believing once they got down.” The Cougars trailed by as many as 14 …
