Lakeville's Loeffler a Partner, Not a Bidder on Vikings Stadium

While flattered to be named as a bidder, Loeffler Construction President and Co-Owner Doug Loeffler says the Lakeville firm hopes to be part of the new Minnesota Vikings stadium project only as a partner.

Loeffler Construction is growing—no doubt about that. And the Lakeville-based firm's President and Co-Owner Doug Loeffler acknowledges building the Minnesota Vikings Stadium would be pretty great. But recent media reports—including one found here on Lakeville Patch (published Jan. 15)—are a bit inaccurate, he said. "It's flattering—the reports, but we cannot build it, or portray to build it alone," Loeffler said. "What we are doing ... we’re teamed with Gilbane Building Companies out of Rhode Island. They’re a very large firm that's built other stadiums, and they reached out to us and asked to be a local partner." Loefller said his firm would be supporting Gilbane, helping them learn the marketplace and help work with the subcontractor …

Lakeville Construction Firm Bids on Vikings Stadium Project

Loeffler Construction of Lakeville is one of six contenders vying for the $975 million stadium deal.

A Lakeville construction company could become the lead contractor on the "People's Stadium," a controversial new venue for the Vikings in downtown Minneapolis.  Lakeville's Loeffler Construction is one of six firms shortlisted for the project, which is expected to run from $675 million to $975 million. Two other Twin Cities companies are contending for the contract, Kraus-Anderson and Mortenson Construction. The project has also attracted three other firms from out of state: Gilbane Building Companies of Rhode Island, Skanska of New Jersey and Hunt Construction of Arizona. The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority released the list on Friday. The MSFA's final selection will be announced on Feb. 1. Construction of the stadium is expected to…

The county and city propose to put a roundabout at the intersection of Kenwood Trail (County Road 50) and 185th Street West (County Road 60).

An information meeting is set for tomorrow evening regarding the construction of a multi-lane roundabout at one of Lakeville's busiest intersections. Dakota County and Lakeville officials will discuss the proposed construction of a massive new roundabout at the intersection of Kenwood Trail (County Road 50) and 185th Street West (County Road 60). From 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, in the Lakeville South High School Commons area, officials from Dakota County and the city of Lakeville will be answering questions and discussing the project during a public informational meeting. The project as a whole, according to the county, comes following a study of the intersection that was performed in 2011 where a multi-lane roundabout was selected as …

Cedar Construction: Paving Between 140th, 150th Slated for This Week

The state is also scheduled to start resurfacing work and other upgrades on Cedar/Hwy 77 between 138th Street and I-494 on Aug. 6.

Week of July 30 Construction on Cedar began in April 2011. The county project involves creating shoulders specifically for buses and widening Cedar Avenue to accommodate a bus rapid transit system, a station-to-station line that would have buses running from Lakeville to a park-and-ride near the Mall of America and back every 15 minutes during the week. The goal of bus rapid transit, which also is recommended or planned for other corridors besides Cedar, is to better and more quickly connect the southern suburbs with Minneapolis and St. Paul. It was announced this spring that the original November 2012 launch date would be pushed back to at least 2013 due to discrepancies over bus station designs. Dakota County has since OK'd the city of …
