With no wheels, a pilot made a nearly perfect "belly landing" of his airplane when his landing gear failed.
Each week, Dakota County Sheriff Dave Bellows releases a newsletter. In case you haven't seen it, Lakeville Patch has it.

World War II-era aircraft, including a B25 Miss Mitchell, were on display and available for tours and flights as part of Pan-o-Prog.
Visitors to Lakeville's Airlake Airport were transported back in time at a small exhibit of World War II-era aircraft on display as part of Pan-o-Prog. A B25 Miss Mitchell was the highlight of the viewing. But the real highlight for those who ponied up the cash was a chance to fly in one of these historic planes—either a PT-22, BT-13 or the B25 Miss Mitchell. Be sure to follow all Lakeville Patch's 2012 Pan-O-Prog coverage.

The National Weather Service is calling for an inch or two of the white stuff tonight and tomorrow morning and temperatures more accustomed to January the rest of the week.
It might be wise to get out and enjoy today’s pleasant weather, as the weather is expected to head in a more wintery direction starting tonight. While the forecasted accumulations should be on the light side, the timing might not be the best. There could be …

Yesterday was the fifth hottest day since 1891.
Yesterday wasn't just hot, it was crazy-hot. The 103 degrees recorded at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport at 3:26 p.m. yesterday was the fifth hottest day ever recorded in the Twin Cities, according to the National Weather Service, and records go all the way back to 1891. It was also the first time we've topped 100 degrees since July 31, 2006—nearly 6 years. The temperature, by the way, is measured in the shade. Lakeville's Airlake Airport weather station topped out at 100 degrees between 2:33 and 4:13 p.m. It didn't creep down below 90 degrees at the airport until 9:53 p.m. What happened to make it so hot? According to NWS meteorologist Michelle Margraf, dry air heats up faster than humid air. There was a lot of drier air in…
