Lakeville's downtown music bar offers multiple nights of entertainment, including local and national acts.

Editor's note: Lakeville Patch will have this week. Check back to see them all.

If you live in the south metro there is a good chance you have heard of in downtown Lakeville. For years it has been the focal point of the community’s night life, offering popular drink specials and nights of local music. But during Lakeville’s Pan-O-Prog celebration the management at Babe’s enjoys turning it up a notch.

The downtown venue has booked local cover band Neptune Cocktail to take the stage inside from 9 p.m. until close. Neptune Cocktail is a four-piece band from Lakeville that covers songs from the 70’s through today’s popular music. The guitar-driven band’s first show in front of more than 30 people was at Pan-O-Prog’s Beer, Brats and Bingo event in 2004. They have played frequently at Babe’s ever since.

And music isn’t the only thing Babe’s is offering on Thursday night. They are also putting on a fundraiser for Lakeville sports, where hot dogs and a bean-bag tournament will be on the schedule from 6 p.m. until midnight outside under the big tent.

Friday, July 8

The Friday during Pan-O-Prog week brings with it a favorite for many Lakeville residents, cruise night. But the night wouldn’t be complete without a party afterwards. Once again the downtown music venue is bringing in G.B Leighton to headline the dance from 9 p.m. until midnight after the conclusion of Lakeville’s well known parade of classic cars.

The leader of G.B Leighton, Brian Leighton, is one of the region’s most popular rockers. His six-piece band performs more than 200 shows during the year across the upper Midwest in festivals, nightclubs and county fairs.

The dance is 21+.

Saturday, July 9

Saturday night brings with it one of the biggest acts to ever take the stage at Babe’s, Soul Asylum. Soul Aslylum is an alternative rock band from Minneapolis that garnered attention in 1992 with their triple-platinum album titled Grave Dancer’s Union. The album featured Grammy Award-winning single “Runaway Train.” The band would later play for Bill Clinton’s inauguration early in 1993, and then score another platinum-selling album three years later.

Soul Asylum will be the first national act scheduled that Babe’s management can remember, according to Babe’s General Manager Mark Streefland.

Doors for the event will be open at 5 p.m. with bands FlashMob and School of Rock opening the show. The events of the night are 21+.

For those of you who are cowboy wannabes, there will also be mechanical bull riding on Friday and Saturday night.
