Lakeville Rotary Club Turns 25

The organization gives back to the community, both locally and globally.

recently celebrated its 25th birthday.

The volunteer organization held a “Paul Harris Dinner,” named for the founder of Rotary International, in honor of its silver anniversary on Jan. 26. Lakeville is home to 84 Rotarians, all of whom are dedicated to fulfilling the ideals of fellowship and volunteerism. Rotarians work to give back to the broader community by assisting specific individuals and causes.

“We are a significant force in the community for doing good,” said Patrick Boria, president elect of The Rotary Club of .

Since its founding in 1987, Lakeville Rotary has donated over $400,000 to the Lakeville community in the form of 276 grants, according to a media advisory distributed by the organization. These grants are generated by funds from the , the organization’s largest fundraiser. Rotary provides donations to a wide range of organizations, including 360 Communities, Boy Scouts, the and the Special Olympics.

Rotarians are deeply devoted to improving communities on an international scale, as well as a local one. Lakeville Rotary has donated more than $350,000 to the International Rotary Foundation and funded a library in Bolivia. The organization also sent an eye doctor and a dentist, both hailing from Lakeville, to Peru to provide healthcare services.

The 10th Annual Taste of Lakeville, a delectable festival and the source of Lakeville Rotary’s funds, will take place on May 17.
