Lakeville's Holiday on Main to Kick Off Christmas Season

The annual event will bring the Christmas spirit to Lakeville this Saturday.

It’s time for Lakeville residents to harness up the horse-drawn sleigh and don their tackiest Christmas sweaters, because the holiday season officially begins this Saturday, Dec. 3, with the 15th annual Holiday on Main celebration.

The festivities, which are hosted by the , will be held at the Lakeville Mall, near the , from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“It’s a nice holiday event where families can come down and enjoy the holiday spirit,” said Judy Tschumper, executive director of the Downtown Lakeville Business Association.

Activities will include a meet and greet with Santa and Mrs. Claus, the opportunity to pet live reindeer, trolley rides down Main Street and face painting. Choral singers from both  and will be performing at the mall, along with instrumental groups from Lakeville South High School. Free cookies and orangeade will be provided.

Holiday on Main will also feature performances from Holly’s Center Stage Dance Studio and local band Called to Rock at the from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The success of Holiday on Main is due largely to the work of volunteers. The event is staffed by approximately 25 community members, including Nancy Smith, a member of the Downtown Lakeville Business Association Advisory Board.

“It brings families, along with the business owners in the community, together,” said Smith, when asked about Holiday on Main. “It’s important to give back.”
