Goodwill to Open Early for Preview Sale

Tickets can be purchased at the door for the Jan. 27 sale, to be conducted a day before Goodwill officially opens its Lakeville location.

Lakeville residents will be able to browse for bargains at the city’s soon-to-be-open Goodwill store a day early.

A preview sale is planned for 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, one day before the official pubic opening of the state’s newest Goodwill store, at 17615 Kenrick Ave.

The sale is open to anyone who purchases a $7 admission ticket at the door.

Ticket proceeds, as well as money from store sales, will support employment services provided by Goodwill/Easter Seals.

Mary Beth Casement, retail marketing generalist at Goodwill, said the preview sale offers ticket-purchasing customers the first crack at purchasing a wide variety of merchandise collected from other Goodwill stores.

“Professional resellers and collectors know that this is a great opportunity to find items in excellent condition at amazing prices,” she said.

There is an unlimited number of tickets available for the preview sale, Casement added.

The 20,000 square-foot Lakeville store will be the 25th Goodwill location to open in Minnesota. In addition to retail space, the store will have a drive-through donation center.

Both the store and the donation center will officially open to the public at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28.

The donation center also will be open during Friday’s preview sale, Casement said.

Last month, Goodwill said it would hire 40 full-time and part-time employees to work at the Lakeville location. Yesterday, Casement said there still are employment openings available.

According to its website, Goodwill/Easter Seals provides "employment services specifically designed for people with disabilities, disadvantages or other barriers to work. Through training, individuals gain the skills, attitudes and work behaviors needed to assist them in finding and keeping employment."
