Mother's Day

Mother's day is about celebrating moms, about thanking them for all they do for their children and husbands.

It comes each year, and depending on the tradition, it’s either a mother’s dream, or just another day. Mother’s Day is about celebrating moms, about thanking them for all they do for their children and husbands.

In some families they don’t let their mom lift a finger all day. I saw a father and the kids working in the yard as the mother sat on the steps watching and reading her book. However there are also the families where it is just another day for mom. Yes, she may get cards and/or flowers, but she still cooks, cleans and answers every “MOOOOM” that is thrown her way. (Is it just in my family or every one else, too, that mom is more than one syllable?)

I’ll admit my family is the latter, but we do usually get mom the one thing she loves: flowers to plant in her garden. She may live on a road that is a dead end in Lakeville, but she loves to play in her garden. And the one thing she asks of the kids: no fighting. Isn’t that almost every mom’s dream, that for one or two days their children happily get along, or clean their room, or just don’t whine for an entire day. I may not be a mom, but I know that the small things like that are the ones most mom’s appreciate the most.

So, it may be cloudy, it may be a tad chilly, but don’t forget to give your mom a special thanks for all that she does. And for the kids out there, try going a week with a clean room (I’m one to talk...), It will make you and your mom feel great!

Here’s to all the moms out there, Thank you.

And a special thank you to my own mother (Pictured with me on her wedding day)... For all that she has done, for the person she has made me today.
