Your 2012 Minnesota Olympians and the Gold Medal Lakeville Connection

The 30th Olympiad kicks off on Friday, July 27, in London, England, with the Opening Ceremonies of the Summer Olympic Games.

The United States will have 529 athletes and countless coaches and trainers representing the nation, including a number from Minnesota during the 17 day event.

Among those going to London with Team USA is Hugh McCutcheon, the 42-year-old head coach of the gold medal favorite Women's Volleyball team. McCutcheon is the husband of Elisabeth "Wiz" Bachman, a 1996 graduate who was a member of the 2004 Women's Volleyball team.

McCutcheon won gold at the 2008 games in Beijing, China, as head coach of the Men's Volleyball team.
