Lakeville Teen's Horses Tend Historic Site's Grasses

Josie Huss told the St. Paul Pioneer Press her horses are 'in heaven' at Pilot Knob in Mendota Heights.

A program to let horses graze at the historic Pilot Knob Hill in Mendota Heights only started last week but already has a Lakeville fan, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported:

"With the faint hum of cars from the Mendota Bridge and Historic Fort Snelling and the downtown Minneapolis skyline in the distance, her three barrel horses and two ponies munch on smooth brome, wild rye and other grasses at scenic Pilot Knob Hill in Mendota Heights.

"'They're in heaven,' the 16-year-old from Lakeville said one afternoon this week. They usually eat just hay, she said, and do not get to wander in a grassy landscape.
