Woodbury Wins Double Overtime Thriller

The Royals beat the Raptors 35-34 in an exciting Friday night contest in Woodbury.

It took a double-overtime goal-line stand by to secure a 35-34 win over in front of a capacity crowd Friday night.

The play stopped a two-point conversion attempt by the Raptors, giving the Royals the win against their cross-town rivals.

In the second overtime, Woodbury (3-1) scored on a Sawyer Moon to Quran Al-Hameed touchdown, and converted the kick to make it 35-28.

East Ridge responded with a four-yard run by Nick Leach. Coach Mike Pendino opted to go for two, and the conversion failed.

The Royals controlled game from the outset—leading 14-0 at the break—but the Raptors capitalized on Woodbury turnovers to score 21 unanswered at one point in the second half.

Woodbury travels to White Bear Lake next Friday and East Ridge meets Hastings for homecoming.

Great Game! Both sides of the fields bleachers were full. After the Woodbury win perhaps 1000 fans and students stormed the field to congratulate Woodbury. The game was a story of 2 halves. Woodbury dominating the first half and East Ridge dominating the second half. In the second over time East Ridge went for the win instead of a tie and Woodbury stopped the 2 point conversion for the win. Again Great Game by both sides !!! :0)
