Several Lakeville Teams Preparing For Transition into Postseason

Regular season ending this week for multiple Lakeville-area squads.

The seventh week of the spring sports season began on Monday, with several Lakeville North and South teams now preparing for the playoffs.

South Boys Lacrosse: Cougars 10, Rochester JM/Lourdes 6

The South boys lacrosse team took a 7-1 halftime lead and made the advantage stick in topping visiting Rochester John Marshall/Lourdes last Friday.

Aaren Larsen and Paul Duckstad both scored four goals apiece in the win that improved the Cougars to 4-5 on the spring.

North Boys Lacrosse: Rosemount 15, Panthers 4

A 15-4 loss to visiting South Suburban Conference rival Rosemount dropped the North boys lacrosse team to 4-5 overall and 2-5 in the circuit standings.

Jack Hughes, Alec Larson, Sam Larson and Willy Wang all scored one goal apiece in the Cougars' losing cause.

South Girls Lacrosse: Cougars 12, Eastview 8

A four-game losing streak came to an end for the South girls lacrosse team with a 12-8 win at conference foe Eastview last Thursday.

Kelly Gustafson scored five goals for the Cougars, with Abby Quinnell and Abigail Ness each netting three tallies apiece in the victory that upped South's record to 4-6 on the season.

North Girls Lacrosse: Panthers 15, Ponies 9

The North girls lacrosse team defeated Stillwater, 15-9, in a non-conference game on Friday to improve to 7-3 this spring.

Hannah Koloski led the Panthers with five goals in the win, with Kacie Waagbo chipping in three scores.

South Baseball: Cougars Top Panthers, Fall To Eagles

The South baseball team defeated in-town rival North, 7-6, last Thursday before being shutout, 13-0, at Apple Valley on Monday to bring its record to 6-11 overall and 4-11 in the South Suburban. Individual statistics were not available.

North Baseball: Panthers Drop To .500

Back -to-back losses to South (7-6) and Eagan (6-2) on Thursday and Monday, respectively, dropped the North baseball team to 9-9 overall and 8-7 in conference play. Individual statistics were not available.

North Softball: Englund Makes A Winner Of Panthers In Regular-Season Finale

Katie Englund delivered a ninth-inning RBI single to cap a three-hit day and give the host North softball team a 7-6 win over visiting conference opponent Rosemount on Monday in the regular-season finale. 

The Panthers now prepare for the section playoffs after putting together an 8-12 overall record and a 4-9 mark in the South Suburban during the regular season.
