Lakeville Sports Roundup: Local Hoop Troops Split Conference Matchups

All four Lakeville varsity basketball teams take the court on Tuesday night; Cougars boys hockey loses late at Apple Valley.

While the four of the town's varsity basketball teams were all in action against South Suburban Conference rivals, the Lakeville South boys hockey team took Apple Valley down to the wire before falling on the road on Tuesday night.

South Boys Basketball: Cougars 70, Prior Lake 47

A 70-47 home win over Prior Lake pulled the Lakeville South boys basketball team back into a first-place tie with Eagan atop the South Suburban Standings.

The Cougars, 16-5 overall and 11-2 in conference play, got a game-high 22 points from Alex Richter, with Jon Christensen and Mitchell Leidner scoring 17 and 11 points, respectively.

South hosts Bloomington Jefferson at 7:15 p.m. Saturday night.

North Girls Basketball: Panthers 76, Eagan 46

A 76-46 home win over Eagan improved the Lakeville North girls basketball team to 21-2 overall and 15-0 in the South Suburban.

Panthers teammates Jaya Perkins and Apiew Ojulu tied for the game's scoring lead with 15 points apiece as Hannah Hughes tallied 11 points in the victory.

North travels to Burnsville for a 7:15 p.m. game on Friday night.

South Boys Hockey: Cougars 3, Apple Valley 2

The Lakeville South boys hockey team gave up a goal late to lose, 3-2, at Apple Valley and fall to 13-8-2 overall — 11-5-1 in the South Suburban.

Calvin Boecker and Alex Harvey both scored in the second period as the Cougars rallied from a first-period deficit to tie the game until late in the third frame, when the Eagles netted the game winner with three minutes to play; Brady Frahm made 25 saves on the night.

South travels to Eastview for a 7:15 p.m. start on Thursday night.

North Boys Basketball: Eagan 75, Panthers 68

The Lakeville North boys basketball team lost, 75-68, at conference co-leader Eagan to drop to 9-12 overall and 7-6 in South Suburban play.

Adam Petterson led all scorers with 19 points, while Panthers teammate Al Erikson scored 12 points for the losing side.

North hosts Burnsville at 7:15 p.m. Friday night.

South Girls Basketball: Prior Lake 57, Cougars 48

Prior Lake kept the Lakeville South girls basketball team winless in South Suburban play with a 57-48 defeat of the Cougars.

South, 1-22 overall and 0-15 in the conference, were led by Kelsey Thulien's 16 points, with Maddie Turbes recording 13 points and Brianna Meier 11 points in the loss.

The Panthers host Bloomington Jefferson at 7:15 p.m. Friday night.
