Lakeville Sports Roundup: Big Weekend For North, South Athletes
North gymnast Blake takes ninth on vault at Class AA meet, several Panthers and Cougars qualify for state wrestling, gymnastics meets.
It was a big weekend for a number of Lakeville North and South athletes as Panthers gymnast wrapped up her season at the Class AA meet, while a number of wrestlers and swimmers from both schools qualified for state on Saturday.
North Gymnastics: Blake Ninth On Vault
Lakeville North gymnast Kelly Blake placed ninth on vault with a score of 9.6 in her lone appearance at the Class AA state individual championship meet on Saturday at the University of Minnesota Sports Pavilion.

North/South Wrestling: Four Cougars, Two Panthers Qualify For State
Lakeville North and South will be sending a combined six wrestlers to the state Class AAA tournament, to begin on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Xcel Energy Center after qualifying efforts at the Section 2AAA meet.

Representing South are: sophomore Austin Britnell (145 pounds), senior Eric Hensel (171), sophomore Tom Peterson (189) and senior Zane Peterson (215).
North will be represented by senior Zach Goldberg (125) and junior Anton Kalista (160).
North/South Swimming and Diving: Several Panthers, Cougars Headed To State
Both Lakeville North and South will be sending a number of competitors to this weekend's Class AA state swimming and diving meet.
The Panthers will compete in all three relays — 200-yard medley relay, 200-yard freestyle relay, 400-yard freestyle relay — while the Cougars will take part in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.
Individually for North, Tim Mitchell (100-yard backstroke, 200-yard individual medley), Ryan A. Young (100 backstroke, 500-yard freestyle), Jake Tempesta (100-yard backstroke), Trae Schindler (500 freestyle) and Nathan Regan (500 freestyle) will swim at state.
For South, Jake Swanson (100 backstroke, 100-yard butterfly), Ben Kosieradzki (100 freestyle), Mitch Herrera (500 freestyle) and Evan Ostendorf (1-meter diving) will all take part in the Class AA meet.
The state Class AA preliminaries begin at 6 p.m. Friday night, with final-round competition taking place on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center.
