South beat Bloomington Jefferson 36-7 at home on Wednesday in their regular season finale. The Cougars finished the season at 4-4.

While the regular season may have been a downer—South was expected to contend for the conference championship—the next step is section playoffs where the Cougars, seeded No. 5, will fight to go back to state for the first time in a couple of years. Rosemount, No. 4, who beat south 12-0 on Oct. 5 will host south at 7 p.m. on Oct. 26.
