Lakeville South's Henderson, Williams Finish State Run

girls tennis teammates finished their senior seasons as consolation runners-up at the Class AA state doubles tournament on Friday.

Henderson and Williams battled their way to the consolation championship match at the University of Minnesota Baseline Tennis Center, where they lost to Chanhassen’s Katie Mattson and Hayley Haakenstad 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.

The duo went 2-2 at the tournament. They began with a 6-1, 6-3 loss to Mounds View Tacy Haws-Lay and Summer Brills in the opening round. They then beat Wayzata’s Alissa Heiring and Caitlin Eichten 6-2, 6-1 in the consolation quarterfinals, then beat Roseville Area’s Carly Hayes and Jacqlyn Poss 6-1, 6-1 in the consolation semifinals.
