Lakeville South Girls Hockey Too Much For Huskies
Cougars top Owatonna, 6-1, earn trip to Section 1AA final.
A four-goal third period helped the Lakeville South girls hockey team secure a spot in Friday’s Section 1AA final.
The Cougars defeated Owatonna 6-1 on Tuesday in their section semifinal matchup at , putting South on the brink of a state tournament bid. The Cougars will face Farmington at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Owatonna’s Four Seasons Centre.
Lakeville South’s Mara Post got the scoring started at 5:34 of the second period, giving the Cougars a 1-0 lead on a short-handed goal. Less than a minute later, Ari Reid made it 2-0 with a short-handed score of her own, and South (23-2-2) took a 2-0 lead heading into the third.

Callen Naasz and Sam Moore each scored in the third period, making the game 4-1 with two minutes to play. After the Huskies (20-6-0) pulled their goalie, Moore and Jordan Gill each scored empty net goals.
South goalie Chelsea Laden made 25 saves on the night to pick up the win.
