Lakeville North, South Girls Lacrosse Teams Win Playoff Openers

Cougars eliminated by Eastview in Section 3AAA softball tournament.

Monday was a big playoff day for Lakeville teams as the North and South girls lacrosse teams joined the Cougars softballers in kicking off their respective sectional tournaments.

South Girls Lacrosse: Cougars Top Owatonna In Section 3 Opener

The Lakeville South girls lacrosse team defeated Owatonna, 15-10, in the opening round of the Section 3 playoffs on Monday to advance to the quarterfinal bracket.

Individual statistics from the game were not made available. The eighth-seeded Cougars will travel to No. 1 seed Bloomington Kennedy on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

North Girls Lacrosse: Panthers Obiterate Century In Sectional Opener

The Lakeville North girls lacrosse team, seeded second in the Section 3 playoffs, opened the tournament in dominating fashion with a 20-1 mauling of visiting Rochester Century on Monday night. 

Individual statistics from the game were not made available. The Panthers will host No. 7 seed Eagan/Rosemount on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the sectional quarterfinals.

South Softball: Cougars Eliminated By Eastview In 3AAA Playoffs

The fifth-seeded South softball team was eliminated by No. 4 Eastview, 12-2, in its Section 3AAA Tournament opener on Monday in Apple Valley. 

With the loss, the Cougars ended the season with an 11-8 record after finishing tied for fourth in the South Suburban Conference with a 7-6 circuit mark.

Pitcher Kendall Palfi led the South Suburban with 10 wins this season.

North Baseball: Panthers 2, Eastview 0

North pitcher A.J. Moore hurled a complete game, two-hit shutout and struck out six batters as the North baseball team blanked Eastview, 2-0, on Monday. 

Bret Piekarski went 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in both Panther runs with a sixth-inning double to clinch the victory. 

South Baseball: Cougars 5, Farmington 4

A 5-4 defeat of visiting conference foe Farmington on Monday improved the Lakeville South baseball team to 7-12 overall and 4-12 in the South Suburban. Individual statistics from the game were not made available.

North And South Boys Golf: Cougars Third, Panthers Fifth At Valleywood

The South boys golf team scored a 318, with North carding a 322 to finish third and fifth, respectively, in a South Suburban meet at Valleywood Golf Course on Monday. Individual statistics were not made available.
