Lakeville North Girls Soccer Falls To Wayzata
The Panthers play for the third place trophy on Tuesday
The girls soccer team dropped a heartbreaking 1-0 loss on Monday in the Class AA state quarterfinals at the Metrodome in Minneapolis.
The Panthers lost a shootout by a 5-3 margin, ending their chances at a state championship. North will face Centennial on Tuesday in the third place match. Gametime is set for 4 p.m.
The Panthers (18-1-2) was the tournament’s top seeded team, but Wayzata found a way to neutralize North’s offense all night. The Trojans outshot the Panthers 10-6 on the evening, and Wayzata goalie Delane Swanson needed to make just two saves on the night.

Still, Wayzata and Lakeville North needed overtime and a shootout session to decide the matchup. Olivia Musser scored the game-winner for the Trojans during a 5-3 shootout win.
Lakeville North enters the third place game with 14 shutouts on the year. During the postseason, the Panthers have outscored their opponents 16-1 in five games.
