Lakeville North Girls Soccer Falls To Wayzata

The Panthers play for the third place trophy on Tuesday

The girls soccer team dropped a heartbreaking 1-0 loss on Monday in the Class AA state quarterfinals at the Metrodome in Minneapolis.

The Panthers lost a shootout by a 5-3 margin, ending their chances at a state championship. North will face Centennial on Tuesday in the third place match. Gametime is set for 4 p.m.

The Panthers (18-1-2) was the tournament’s top seeded team, but Wayzata found a way to neutralize North’s offense all night. The Trojans outshot the Panthers 10-6 on the evening, and Wayzata goalie Delane Swanson needed to make just two saves on the night.
