Lakeville North Girls Earn Third Place At State
The Lakeville North Panthers defeat White Bear Lake 68-50 for third place in the Class AAAA girls state basketball tournament
In a rematch for the 2010 Class AAAA championship, Lakeville North again defeated White Bear Lake Area High School. Last year, the Panthers won 57-47. This year, the score was 68-50, but the prize was for the .
The Bears bit into the Panthers’ lead in the second half, coming within three points (40-37) at 11:24 of the second half, but Lakeville North responded with nine unanswered points. Overall, the Panthers shot 50 percent from the field (17-37) and 44 percent from three-point range (7-16).
Rachel Banham paced Lakeville North with 17 points, six assists, and three steals. Apiew Ojulu also had six rebounds for the Panthers. Lindsay Paulson and Tarah Hobbs scored eight points apiece for White Bear Lake Area. Hobbs and Alexis Foley both grabbed five rebounds for the Bears.
