Lakeville North Boys Tied For Sixth At State After Day 1

Lakeville South sophomore Justin Doeden tied for third individually heading into Wednesday at Class AAA meet

The Lakeville North boys golf team finished the first day of the Class AAA state meet tied for sixth overall at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids on Tuesday.

The Panthers finished the day with a 311 score, tying them with Elk River for sixth overall. Eden Prairie and Rogers each tied for first with 299 after the first day, while two-time defending champion Wayzata finished the day third at 301.

Individually, Forest Lake’s Max Kelly leads the pack with a round of 70.

Panthers freshman Bobby Thomas led Lakeville North with a 73, tied for seventh overall. Senior Adam Petterson finished tied for 26th with a 76, freshman Freddy Thomas is tied for 36th with a 77 and Mike Oberg and Trey Heid tied for 79th by each shooting 85. Joel Oxton tied for 83 with an 87.

Lakeville South sophomore Justin Doeden currently sits third overall individually with a 72. He is tied with three other golfers. Senior Brandon Mader tied for 75th overall with an 84 on the day.

On the girls side, Lakeville South’s Ellen Rager finished the first day of the Class AAA state girls tournament by shooting a 94. She earned a tie for 59th place with three other golfers, 23 shots off the pace. New Prague freshman McKenzie Neisen, who leads the tournament with a 71.
