Lakeville Man Hopes to Become International Bandy Star
Don't know what Bandy is? Don't worry, most Americans don't. That doesn't change the fact that a Lakeville man is one of the world's best Bandy players.
A Swedish/American citizen living in Lakeville, MN, hopes to become one of only two Americans to ever play for the world's No. 1 Bandy team, Dynamo Moscow (Russia).
Alexander Hart has played across the world in the sport of Russian ice hockey called Bandy. Last season his skills generated such excitement playing in Norway, he was scouted by the European champions (Dynamo Moscow) and offered trials to train with the team in Russia.
The sport is relatively unknown in North America where traditional ice hockey is more prevalent, though interest in the sport is growing, particularly in winter states like Minnesota. Hart hopes his success in Europe will inspire future American Bandy players and bring more attention to the sport in America.
