Lakevile North Legion Stays Alive At State

The Panthers lost to Albert Lea 5-2, then rebounded for a 10-8 win over Maplewood Green on Friday in Eden Prairie

The Lakeville North American Legion baseball team stayed alive Friday at the Minnesota State Legion tournament, losing its first game but winning its second in Eden Prairie.

North entered the tournament as District 3’s third seed, and in the first round the Panthers fell to Albert Lea 5-2. Lakeville North rebounded in the double-elimination tournament, topping Maplewood Green 10-8 on Friday afternoon in its first elimination game.

The Panthers will face Fergus Falls on Saturday at Eden Prairie High School. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.

One other District 3 team remains alive in the tournament. District champion Eastview lost its first game of the state tournament 12-8 to Minneapolis Southwest, then rebounded to beat Willmar 9-8 in its second game. The Thunder will face either Hermantown or Centennial on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Burnsville lost both of its games on Friday. The Cobras lost 4-2 to Sauk Rapids to open up play, then lost 4-3 to Hopkins in their second game.
