There’ll be a heapin’ helpin’ of sectional soccer on Thursday as Lakeville North and South earned the Nos. 1 and 2 seeds, respectively, in the Section 1A boys and girls tournaments. All four Panthers and Cougars sides will host a side from Rochester.

THE LAYOUT

Lakeville soccer fans will have their pick of four games on Thursday, two starting at 5 p.m., two at 7 p.m.

The No. 1 North boys take on No. 8 Rochester John Marshall at 5 p.m., with a win advancing the Panthers to a semifinal matchup against either No. 4 Northfield or No. 5 Farmington on Saturday.

The No. 2 South boys host No. 7 Rochester Century at 7 p.m., with a triumph moving the Cougars on to a semifinal against either No. 3 Rochester Mayo or No. 6 Owatonna on Saturday.

North’s No. 1 girls host No. 8 Mayo at 7 p.m. and a triumph will move the Panthers to a Saturday semifinal against No. 4 Owatonna or No. 5 Century.

South’s No. 2 girls host No. 7 John Marshall at 5 p.m. as a victory also pushes the Cougars into a Saturday semifinal versus No. 3 Northfield or No. 6 Farmington.

WHO WILL WIN:

There’s little reason to expect any sadness on the home sidelines on Tuesday as signs point to a clean sweep for the hosts to send all four sides one game closer to a possible all-Lakeville sectional final for both boys and girls.

One logistical tie-up does need to be addressed, however. Currently all four sectional semifinal games are currently scheduled for 1 p.m. that will likely get crowded if the quartet of Lakeville teams advance.
