Playing its final game against a team from north of Interstate 35E until a prospective state tournament appearance, the Lakeville North boys soccer team hosts fifth-ranked Bloomington Jefferson in the regular-season finale on Thursday night.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Tyler David entered the week with the team scoring lead at eight goals through 13 games, with Joey Decklever and Toby Khounviseth each logging five goals each heading into the final two-game stretch. Goalkeeper Connor Revsbeck had seven shutouts in 13 games entering the week.
Jefferson is led by Tyler Anderson (11 goals) and Tyler Tumberg (eight goals), while goalie William Elfstrum has stopped 108 of 119 shots through 14 games and had six shutouts entering the week.
WHO WILL WIN:
While Jefferson is the ranked team, North trails the Jaguars by just a skosh record-wise. Jefferson began October with an 8-2-4 overall record, 4-1-2 in the South Suburban Conference, while the Panthers were 8-3-2 overall, 4-2-1 in the SSC.
Both teams were tied for second in the conference in least goals allowed at an average of 0.8 each as they started the week, with Jefferson holding a slight scoring edge at 2.3 per game to North’s 1.9 average.
Each squad fell to likely conference champion Eastview by a single goal and each had a .500 record against ranked teams through September.
