Football: vs. Prior Lake
SITE: Prior Lake High School
TIME: 7:00 p.m. Friday
ON THE LINE
After losing its season opener at home, 47-24, to intra-city rival Lakeville North last Thursday, South heads to Prior Lake in need of a win to avoid falling to 0-2 for the first time since 2005. The Lakers, kicking off their home schedule, will be a tough matchup for the Cougars -- coming off an 8-4 record in 2011 and a 30-11 win at Eagan last Friday.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Senior running back Austin Britnell put the Cougars on the board first last week, giving his team a 7-0 lead on North via a 51-yard touchdown run. Backfield classmate Jordan Johnson also ran in a score from 12 yards out in the loss.
Senior running back Jack Johnson ran in all three three offensive scores for the Lakers, logging a touchdown in the first, second and fourth quarters, last week at Eagan.
WHO WILL WIN
This is nowhere close to a favorable matchup for a team in need of a victory. Look for South to provide a better matchup than Eagan and keep the game close if they can avoid fumbling the ball away five times, as they did in the opener. However, Prior Lake takes this one.
