Renowned Composer to Lead Lakeville South Band in Free Concert

Lakeville South invites the public to a free band concert at 7 p.m. on Dec. 11, featuring guest composer/arranger, Shelley Hanson.

The Lakeville South High School bands invite one and all to a concert at 7 p.m. on Dec. 11, featuring guest composer/arranger, Shelley Hanson.

Hanson is a composer, clarinetist, conductor and record producer whose music has been performed on all continents except Antarctica.

The event is free to all and Hanson will be conducting the Lakeville South Wind Ensemble playing her arrangement of "Noel/Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring." The Symphonic Band and Percussion Ensembles will also be performing.

Hanson has performed as a soloist with many groups, including the Minnesota Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony, Rochester Orchestra, North Carolina Symphony, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Las Vegas Philharmonic, and the U.S. Air Force Band (Washington, D.C.) among others. 

Principal Clarinetist of the Minneapolis Pops Orchestra, she is a frequent clinician and guest conductor for high school and university groups. After graduating from Duke University, she received the M.M., Woodwind Specialist, and the Ph.D. in performance, music literature, and music theory from Michigan State University. She has conducted wind ensembles and orchestras as a faculty member of various colleges and universities.
