Oak Hills Elementary Named Celebration School

The school, part of the Lakeville Area Public School District, is one of 48 schools that received the designation from the Minnesota Department of Education.

The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) designated Oak Hills Elementary in Lakeville as a Celebration School.

A total of 48 schools, out of the 166 schools that applied, were named Celebration Schools this year.

Minnesota assigns schools a Multiple Measurement Rating (MMR), which is "based on students’ proficiency and growth, as well as a school’s progress towards reducing achievement gaps and increasing graduation rates," according to the MDE.

Title I schools are those that serve racially and ethnically diverse student populations with high levels of poverty. Top performing Title I schools qualify for Celebration and Reward school designations.

Schools eligible for Celebration status are the 25 percent of schools that fall directly below Reward Schools, which are the top 15 percent of Title I schools. The MDE chooses Celebration Schools based on the school's documentation of its best practices for student achievement.
