(Gallery) Lakeville Track and Field Athletes Compete in Conference Meet

Lakeville North and South sent their boys and girls track and field teams to the South Suburban Conference meet held in Apple Valley

The Lakeville North girls track and field team won the South Suburban Conference championship on Wednesday by compiling a 117 team score at the event in Apple Valley.

Lakeville South’s girls squad finished third with 101.50 points. On the boys side, South took sixth at 61 points and North finished seventh at 50 points. Rosemount won the boys event with 169 points.

On the girls side, North’s Nicole Naatjes won the girls pole vault at 11 feet, 3 inches, and Angelica Anyaogu won the long jump at 17 feet, 0.5 inches. Jennifer Svobodny took first in the shot put at 41 feet, 10.5 inches, and teammate Emma Erickson won the discus throw at 130 feet, 1 inch.

Anyaogu also took second in the girls triple jump at 35 feet, 2.25 inches, Emily Pratt took second in the 100 meter hurdles at 15.36, and Katie Dillie took second in the high jump at 5 feet, 2 inches.

Lakeville South’s Kaytlyn Larson won the 1600 meter run at 5:09.77, and freshman Morgan Pieri took first in the girls high jump at 5 feet, 6 inches. Shaina Burns took second in the 300 meter hurdles at 47.06.

On the boys side, Lakeville South’s Nick Bachinski won the high jump at 6 feet, 5 inches and also took third in the 110 meter hurdles at 15.72. Ben Kuhr took first in the discus at 164 feet, 10 inches.

Lee Bares too second in the pole vault at 13 feet, 3 inches, and Casey Troop took fifth in the 400 meter dash at 52.16.

For the Panthers, Kyle McPhee took first in the pole vault at 14 feet, 0 inches.

Jake Weber took second in the discus throw at 154 feet, 11 inches and fourth in the shot put at 52 feet, 3.75 inches.

Ben Saxton took sixth in the 1600 meter run at 4:27.12 and eighth in the 3200 meter run at 9:49.49.

Lakeville North’s 4x800 meter relay team took third as Samuel Bach, Isaac Thole, Kyle Froeber and Joey Brenner finished in 8:14.51.
