Lakeville South Student Reaches Semifinals in State Debate Tournament

Dylan Adelman ultimately fell to the champion of the Lincoln-Douglas Debate.

Lakeville South's Dylan Adelman had a strong showing at the 113th state debate tournament last weekend. 

The state debate tournament took place at the University of Minnesotaon Jan. 17 and 18. It consisted of three debates: Lincoln-Douglas, Policy and Public Forum.

Adelman competed in the Lincoln-Douglas debate. He advanced to the semifinals, where he faced last year's Lincoln-Douglas debate champion Andrew Urevig of Robbinsdale Armstrong. Urevig went on to take the championship win for the second year in a row.

This year's topic for the Lincoln Douglas debate was: “Resolved: Developing countries should prioritize environmental protection over resource extraction when the two are in conflict.”
