Heartbreaker: Lakeville North Loses to Minnetonka in Longest Game in History

The Panthers battled Minnetonka in a six OT marathon in the semifinals.

The Lakeville North girls hockey team made history—but not in a way they had hoped.

The Panther's state title dreams were dashed in exhausting fashion early Saturday morning, losing to Minnetonka 4-3 in a game that lasted six overtimes—the longest game in state tournament history.

It was the second straight year the Panthers were ousted by Minnetonka at state.

The Panthers will now face Eden Prairie on Saturday, Feb. 23 in the third-place game.
