Filing Closed: Lakeville's Mayor, City Council, School Board Races Set

Longtime School Board Member Kathy Lewis is not running for re-election, meaning there will be at least one fresh face on the board come January.

Filing is now closed for candidates interested in running for local office in Lakeville, meaning the races for mayor, city council and school board are now set.

School Board

In the biggest shock of the upcoming election, School Board Member Kathy Lewis did not file for re-election. Lewis has been on the board for 22 years. The move means there will be at least one fresh face on Lakeville's School Board in January.

Incumbent Board Chair Judy Keliher, and Treasurer  did file for re-election. In addition, Lori Amborn, Bader A. Alossaimi, former , and former Crystal Lake  also filed to run, according to the Secretary of State's website.

There are three candidates running for a two-year term as mayor, including incumbent , as well as City Council Members and .

With Rieb's filing to run for mayor however, it guarantees that there will be a fresh face on Lakeville's City Council. Rieb's term is set to expire, so by running for mayor, it's assured to be filled by someone new.

According to the city of Lakeville, the candidates for the two city council seats include incumbent Council Member Kerrin Swecker, as well as  and . Both seats are four-year terms.
