District 194 Seeks Nominations for Friends of Education Awards

In other district news, tickets are available for Lakeville North Hall of Fame induction and the State of the Schools presentation and the Lakeville South Car Drive fundraiser are scheduled.

Editor’s Note: The following new releases are from Lakeville Area Public Schools website.

Each year the Lakeville Area Public Schools present Friends of Education Awards to honor outstanding individual contributions to the Lakeville Schools. The awards recognize people whose service has been on-going in one of these categories: Volunteer Service, Business Partnerships, Distinguished Service, and Education. Members of the community are invited and encouraged to nominate people they feel are deserving of these awards. The awards will be presented at the 2013 Staff Recognition Reception on May 22 that will be held at Brunswick Zone XL in Lakeville.

Nominees will be judged primarily on the significance of contributions to the wellbeing of education in the Lakeville Schools over the years. Nominees may be District employees or community members who have contributed to the Lakeville Schools programs and services. The selection committee will consider if the nominee has:

• Achieved above and beyond what is expected in the public school program
• Affected one or more of the following: program development, staff morale, community support, student interest, learning environment, or general support for public education
• Provided creative leadership in inspiring or motivating others to achieve or contribute to public education
• Demonstrated continuing support for Lakeville Area Public Schools

The qualifications will be considered collectively so the persons selected are recognized for their service to the entire district, rather than for one particular project or area of performance. Any staff or community member may nominate a candidate to receive a Friends of Education Award by filling out a nomination form.
