Tonight's the Night: MnDOT Starts Work on I-35 Tuesday

The interstate between Lakeville and Elko/New Market will be down to one lane in each direction for two months.

Get ready for one-lane traffic going north or south on I-35, from Lakeville south to Elko/New Market.

A $20 million Minnesota Department of Transportation project starts Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013. By 5 a.m. on Wednesday, crews will have reduced the interstate between County Road 2 and County Road 70 to one lane in each direction.

The project was to have started in August but the agency put off the start of work until after Labor Day.

In addition to lane closures, according to MnDot, Sept. 3 will also mean these ramp closures:

  • 185th St/County Road 60 to northbound I-35 closed. Suggested alternate: County Road 50 ramp to access northbound I-35.
