Roz Peterson Wins GOP Endorsement in House District 56B

The Lakeville School Board member was selected over Terry McCall of Burnsville on Thursday during the district's second endorsing convention.

The GOP endorsement for Minnesota House District 56B goes to .

A Lakeville School Board member, Peterson came out ahead of of Burnsville in voting at the district’s Thursday night in Burnsville.

Peterson and McCall were deadlocked in balloting for the endorsement during the in March, thus forcing the second round.

According to SunThisweek.com, Peterson received the necessary 68 votes—60 percent of delegates—for endorsement at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, a couple hours after the second convention began. McCall then gave Peterson his personal endorsement.

The newly created District 56B, formed as result of the , includes a large part of Burnsville and northwestern Lakeville.

Former House member of Burnsville is the DFL-endorsed candidate in the district.

Peterson, if she wins the seat, would have to resign from , where she's been a member since 2007. Her term is slated to run through Dec. 31, 2014.
